There are several options available to home owners when it comes to regulating temperatures in a room. Most of us think of heaters for warmth, and the advantages that Dimplex storage heaters can have or the energy efficiency that a Dimplex panel heater discreetly positioned in a living room can have. However, technology has meant that these forms of heater are capable of more than simply warming a room. It is the same for ceiling fans which, once turned on, will circulate air around an otherwise stuffy and uncomfortable room. The modern models have benefited from advances in design and technology, enhance their effectiveness. We show three examples where new technology, and indeed new thinking, has served to improve the hearing and cooling capabilities of existing technologies. Combination Storage Heating The stereotypical storage heater serves the heating needs of the home well, storing heat created by the consumption of electricity at low rates at night and then releasing it when needed during the day. It is a popular solution to affordable heating in the home, and indeed office. However, there has always been an issue with getting the extra heat required when temperatures dip unexpectedly outside of the winter season. This has led designers to come up with the combination storage heater, one which has a convector built in to heat circulating air independently of the main storage heating system and so provide the immediate heat necessary. The convector can also provide extra heat to supplement the stored heating when winter weather conditions are particularly cold. In effect, investing in a combination storage heater means that one gets two heaters in one, while energy efficiency is maintained by the inclusion of automatic charge regulators to regulate energy input. Radiant Panel Heating The development of panel heating has provided an energy efficient heating method that is quiet and consistent. However, there are two principal types, namely the convection and radiant versions. As mentioned above, convection means that fans are included in the heater design that circulate air through the heater and, in that way, distribute warmth around a given area. This works perfectly well in rooms that are fairly small, but they can be quite ineffective when rooms are on the large size. The radiant version, however, simply radiates heat into the room. The result is that the air, which moves naturally, is heated and in that way the room is temperature increases. The efficiency of the heater is high because it can heat a room very quickly, while the ceramic slabs within the heater itself experience very little heat loss, meaning the heater is effective for a very long period of time. The great advantage with radiant heating is that it is the natural method our bodies are used to, and it therefore creates a more pleasing atmosphere for us. This heating experience is enhanced by the addition of thermostats and sensors which together allow the heaters to maintain a steady temperature at all times. Pulse Technology in Fans Fans are the oldest form of temperature regulation, with hand held versions being used for thousands of years. It was only natural then that once the electrical technology was available that using an electric motor to power a fan would be adopted. Now, however, the capabilities of electric fans in all their forms are considerably more advanced, and the development of pulse technology for ceiling fans is a particularly good example. With the motor already driving the fan blade around at different selected speeds, it is possible to regulate the circulation of air and cool the room temperature by effectively creating a breeze. However, the chief flaw with this method is that the air circulation is constant and unnatural. Pulse technology automatically varies the speed of rotation to create a more natural breeze effect, which serves to provide a greater sense of relief. With such improvements in fan technology, the temperature control experience for the user is greatly enhanced. It is just the same with heating rooms, with Dimplex storage heaters boasting dual methods to ensure a greater effectiveness of the heater is enjoyed. And the advantage of a radiant Dimplex panel heater is such that comfort levels are increased dramatically. Whatever the heating or cooling method adopted by a home owner, the advances in technology and design mean heaters and fans offer more now than they once did.
